Nexa Climate and Health Innovation Initiative 2026

The Nexa Climate and Health Innovation Funding 2026 is a global initiative co-led by Grand Challenges Canada and the Science for Africa Foundation, in collaboration with an international consortium of funding partners. This opportunity aims to invest in bold, locally led innovations designed to empower health systems to anticipate climate-related risks and effectively respond to health emergencies. It invites organizations and innovators from Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean to submit innovative solutions that strengthen healthcare systems and protect vulnerable communities from climate-driven health threats. Key areas of focus include Climate-Informed Early Warning and Monitoring Systems, encompassing solutions like early warning systems, climate surveillance platforms, and disease forecasting tools, to help communities prepare for challenges such as mosquito-borne diseases, extreme heat, and air pollution. Additionally, the initiative supports Climate-Responsive Patient Care Delivery innovations that enhance diagnosis, treatment, patient monitoring, and ensure continuity of healthcare services during climate stress, specifically addressing heat-related illnesses, air pollution-related diseases, malaria, and dengue. Nexa prioritizes practical, scalable, and community-driven solutions that integrate weather data with health information, improve disease prediction, support healthcare decision-making, and enable rapid response to reduce climate-related illness and deaths.
