MEST AI Startup Program (Class of 2027)

The MEST AI Startup Program is an up to 12-month immersive experience designed to equip Africa's most promising AI entrepreneurs with the skills to build and scale globally competitive AI startups. The program consists of a 7-month Training Phase (January - July 2027) and a 4-month Incubation Phase (September - December 2027). During training, participants explore AI business ideas, develop and deploy an AI MVP, gain expertise in AI software development and business fundamentals, and work with world-class experts. The incubation phase focuses on scaling AI products, securing customers, refining business models, working with mentors and investors on funding strategies, and preparing for investment. Eligibility requires a Bachelor's degree, diploma, or equivalent experience; age 21-35; demonstrated software development experience; basic understanding of AI; strong interest in entrepreneurship; an entrepreneurial mindset; and full commitment for up to 12 months. Applicants must be West or East African citizens, ready for a high-intensity startup environment, and desire to pursue entrepreneurship full-time.

Applicants must first complete a Program Eligibility Screening. Upon confirmation of eligibility, they will proceed to fill out an Application Form, which includes demographic information, skills, interests, and a short personal statement video. This is followed by a Required Assessment evaluating technical, business, and interpersonal skills. Shortlisted candidates are then invited to in-person interviews and a group challenge in Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal, or Kenya, before receiving a contract offer.
